Slinky Seat
Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD
Wurundjeri Country
Laser Cut Physical Model
The Slinkey seat was designed in response to the future demands of the Grattan Street as a technological hub. Increases in public transport services and bike lanes required a novel approach to streetscape infrastructure.
The Slinky Seat provides secure bike parking as well as increased seating.
The form is constructed wholly from post-consumer plastics, a nod to utilising new technologies to address demands in the new technology hub.
The Plastic design provides a visual cue, linking the southern terminus of the proposed technology precedent, namely RMIT’s infamous green “Blob”.
The form was designed in Grasshopper and then articulated through both CAD technical drawings and a physical model to demonstrate both the practical and technical specifications.
